Isuzu Motors Limited has initiated a strategic review to merge with its subsidiary, UD Trucks Corporation (headquartered in Ageo, Saitama, Japan), with the objective of completing the integration by March 2028. The proposed merger is intended to combine the management resources of both companies, strengthening overall corporate value and enabling more agile and effective decision-making.
Since UD Trucks became part of the Isuzu Group in 2021, both organizations have progressively advanced collaboration and restructuring initiatives across multiple areas. These include joint product development and cross-supply arrangements, coordinated production activities in Japan and international markets, the reorganization of domestic sales operations, and more efficient deployment of human resources across both entities.
The commercial vehicle industry is currently undergoing significant transformation, driven by global decarbonization efforts, rapid innovation in logistics systems, the shift toward software-defined and intelligent vehicles, and intensifying global competition. In response to these structural changes, Isuzu considers it essential to further strengthen its management foundation and enhance value creation through optimal integration of business functions and faster, more decisive execution. Against this backdrop, the company is actively evaluating the integration of management resources across both organizations.
Looking ahead, and with the aim of completing the merger by March 2028, Isuzu will continue engaging key stakeholders, including customers, employees, and business partners, while also maintaining ongoing communication and consultation with relevant regulatory authorities.
Guided by its purpose, “Moving the World – for You,” the Isuzu Group remains committed to evolving into a “Commercial Mobility Solutions Company” focused on addressing the changing needs of customers and broader societal challenges. The Group will continue to prioritize agility and adaptability as it navigates an increasingly complex and uncertain global business environment.
